HELP!!!
I am having great difficulty managing money these days. I feel so overwhelmed with debt. And there is no reason i should have debt!!! For the past several months I have been unable to go an entire month without getting overdrawn. And my past two pay checks basically covered my overdraft charges  . Yesterday my dad took my son to his Occupational Therapy appt. He brought me back a $250 returned check :(
I was extremely embarressed. I have been keeping this a secret from everyone including my husband. And I keep thinking I can catch it up, but I keep getting in more trouble. My parents are great and they are insisting that I accept there help. I am afraid to tell my husband about what is going on. I know he will be upset. We are losing so much money in overdrafts due to my carelessness. Does anyone have any tips or strategies on how to “pull yourself out of the quicksand”?
First, cut up your credit and debit cards, and turn the checkbook over to your husband (or your parents if you’re afraid of your husband. Tell him/them that you don’t want easy access. Have your husband/parents give you a sensible allowance out of your paycheck to cover running expenses, (like gas and groceries) and learn to live within it.) You can use cash, (or certified checks and money orders if you are paying by mail), for necessary bills. Have your paycheck direct deposited into your bank account, and set up automatic withdrawal of stuff like taxes and mortgage. This will decrease your chances of getting into trouble, and it is a whole lot better to do it now, than wait until you have completely ruined your credit rating. As it is, you are going to have trouble if you need to get a loan.
