Bob Books

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I remember reading comments about Bob decodable books. The resource teacher found an old bunch of group 2 books. What level are these for? Do you think a 3rd grader with decoding problems (my son) would be okay with these? He’s so concerned with the level of books.
Thanks

Amy,

Bob Books are intended for very beginning readers age 5-6 years. They have very simple little pictures and about a sentence per page. Your son needs to be reading decodable books which will complement the decoding instruction I hope he is getting from the resource teacher. So it is not unusual for a beginning reader in third grade to read these books. But if your son is concerned about looks, he won’t like them.

Thanks Janis. My son read one booklet to me last night. I just want to get him back in the habit of reading text from a book each day.

That is important to pratice reading daily. Do you know what the resource teacher is using for remediation?
