Confused

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

:? My oldest dd (9) was diagnosed with APD when she was 4. Well, she is struggling with listening and being able to work independantly in class. I have also noticed that she is getting worse at home as well. I will talk to her, making sure I have her full attention, or so I think, and she will leave the room to do what I have asked, and get half way through and forget what I have told her. Is this just normal childhood stuff, or is it part of her APD, or could she possibly have ADD???

Her report card wasnt excellent, but it wasnt bad either, she pretty much has a C average, but her listening and working independant grades were both N.

It’s probably part of the APD. Have you done any sound therapies?

Audiblox would likely help, as some of the exercises work on developing auditory short-term memory, auditory sequencing, auditory attention skills, etc. Website is http://www.audiblox2000.com

What is APD? To the previous poster… were the meds for ADD or APD?

APD is auditory processing disorder…difficulty processing auditory information. No meds for this. The meds would have to be for ADD.
