Lil or anyone... What is AVKO?

Found some topics with AVKO mentioned. What is it? Sorry, i don’t have a lot of time to go thru the board a lot. Sounds like something that would help my daughter. Phonographix helped, and we need to continue, but BUSY BUSY BUSY. Thanks!!!

Beth from FL can answer this question better than I - and I’m sure she’ll chime in when she sees your post. :-)

From what I remember, AVKO is a method to teach spelling that is called “sequential spelling.” It was written by someone who is dyslexic to teach other dyslexic people to spell. The system starts with a small word, and then builds on it for larger words.

Of course the lessons get more complicated as you go along - there are more examples at their site. The books are relatively inexpensive, too. I think you can just start with the first book if you want to, at $12.95.
