It depends a little on how old your daughter is and how far into Reading Reflex you are.

If you are just starting and she is young (6yo or younger, or 7yo with severe deficits), then you may want to opt for the $59 parent supplement — which includes a book of worksheets for both basic and advanced code, and a set of cardstock manipulatives you cut up yourself. This is very handy if you haven’t already cut up your book, and includes some extra manipulatives. Frankly speaking, most children (unless 5yo or younger) really don’t need the supplemental worksheets for basic code. If you get this version, be really careful to pick and choose among the worksheets. You would never expect a child to do every word on every worksheet!

If your child is 7yo or older, you probably won’t need the worksheets for basic code and adjacent consonants. In this case, it’s probably best (and least overwhelming) to purchase the company’s $39 parent support guide, which covers only advanced code. This comes in several versions, with the only difference being the topic of the stories, not the level of difficulty. I usually use Snuffy Puppy with children 8yo and younger and Clubhouse for older. This is the most valuable supplement available from the company, and I always recommend it because it provides an easy, systematic way to work through advanced code.

In my opinion, almost everything else is of value only to clinicians and classroom teachers.

Whatever you do, *don’t* buy the stories separately. They are the same as the ones in the book, and are offered mostly for classroom and small group work so each child can have a copy.
