IE - Instructional Enrichment or Mediated Learning

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I have researched this and know what it is. I understand that it is a cognitive therapy to help children learn how to learn. My question is- Has anyone ever seen results from this?

Thank you,

I haven’t personally seen results, not knowing anyone who has been through the program, but have read posts from people who were pleased with gains from the program.

In terms of cognitive training hierarchy, I think one would theoretically do Audiblox first, then PACE, and then Instrumental Enrichment.

I am trained in PACE and at one of the training workshops met a person who was trained in IE but was also getting PACE training. He said that, from what he had seen, PACE is more efficient at training the lower level cognitive skills than IE, but IE is better at training the higher level cognitive skills. He works with children who have severe deficits and was planning to use PACE followed by IE.

From what I have seen of Audiblox, it is a good precursor to PACE — especially since it is suitable for children as young as 3, whereas PACE assumes a functioning level of about 6yo to start.
