Hi,
Has anyone used Audioblox to improve visual discrimination/tracking and seen an improvement?
My daughter has had 4 months of vision therapy (2x/week plus daily home excercises; she will probably end up doing a year of VT), is getting good tutoring support for reading, and some OT support for writing. As reading/writing have improved the visual discrimination/tracking problem has become more apparent.
I’m trying to decide if I should try Audioblox now, or wait until vision therapy ends..
Thanks,
Kim
I think you could (m)
add Audiblox, as long as you don’t feel it’s too much. My son did vision therapy and still would skip words and lines even after we were done. Keep in mind though he was really really bad at tracking I had to point to every word before vision therapy. After vision therapy I didn’t have to point to everyword I just then could point to the line.
We then did Audiblox and this helped even more with the tracking and not skipping lines. He rarely skips lines or words now. So it must help in these areas. In some ways I wish I would have started Audiblox along with vision therapy. I think I would be a bit futher ahead. But I homeschool, and I can cut back on other work depending on how much therapy type stuff we were doing. (Did Audiblox for a year, and now were done.)
Cindy.
I think the vision therapy should help with that. If your daughter also has some cognitive issues, then the Audiblox might be a good addition…as long as you’re not overwhelming her with therapies. Sometimes it’s tempting to try and “fix” everything at once, but I think the more effective may be to try and tackle a few key areas for the neccesary length of time and then work forward from there.
Good luck to you!
