I am looking for a reference that reviews/summarizes scientific, researched-based interventions. I’m also interested in instructional strategies for special education. If IDEA incorporates the concept of “response to intervention”, then we will need this information to assist in the identification process for determining a learning disability.

Re: Research-Based Interventions
Victoria’s plan is sound. I have noticed a curious thing since NCLB. EVERYTHING gets this “research based” tagged on it!! I saw the Edmark reading program with “research based” on it. What I know about Edmark is that it is an exclusively sight word reading approach (if you can call it that) going up to about 2nd grade or so. What the research says is sight words won’t teach you to read. So I guess it is research based, in that there IS research on it. Even though the research says it doesn’t work. :-)

Look on the LD In Depth page on this board. That is the reference to start with. For reading specifically go to the National Reading Panel report on that page.
