Reading Skills at the Multi-Syllable level

I have seen Rewards recommended for kids who are reading at a fourth grade level or above.

Did you purchase it and try it? I remember you talking about it awhile back. Maybe it was another program….

I have used Rewards and recommend it highly. It was developed for classroom use, but is very easy to adapt to one-on-one. The program is entirely scripted, which makes it very easy for a parent. It was developed for middle schoolers and high schoolers, but I have found it works pretty well for anyone reading on a beginning 4th grade level or better.

The vocabulary becomes challenging quickly, so for elementary-age children you might want to do half-lessons and take it more slowly. Also, the text readings (which start around lesson #13) could be more than an elementary student could handle, so you might want to save those lessons for the following year. Most middle school students could handle the entire program without a problem.

In my opinion, Rewards is a much more effective program than Megawords, which is what I used before I discovered Rewards.

I actually ordered it through half bay but it never came. I ended up getting my money back but never followed through.

My son worked a lot on multi-syllable words at this PG intensive. He is doing so much better with them that I think we’re going to stick with word analysis for now.
