Marycas,
Sorry to hear about the critical thinking software—at least I’ll know not to order it. Vocabulary Vine is quite cheap—$9.95 plus shipping and handling. Unlike other programs it incorporates spiral review of the roots. If you use google and put in Vocabulary Vine, the first entry will be for the author’s site where you can order using Paypal. You can also order from the Elijah Company using a credit card. The next entry in google is a review of the program on abasiccurriculum.com. This is a good review in that it gives you a real feel for how someone would use the program. Take a look and see how it would fit into your hs schedule.
The cards you are thinking of are Rummy Roots. These are pretty good for review, but I think the game would be much more helpful if a basic knowledge of roots was first obtained such as you would get with Vocabulary Vine. The book gives directions for a number of no preparation games using cards you make for the roots—a couple are very similar to Rummy Roots, which as I recall, is probably more expensive than Vocabulary Vine.
