My oldest son has had a very challenging academic life. He has struggled for every year. He has ADD (not hyper) as well as a learning disability that made learning, especially reading and writing very hard for him. We even had to hold him back his first year in first grade. He is a very smart, sweet and well behaved child. He wants to do good in school but it has been hard. I have cried many times with him when he says “mom I want to learn but my brain wont let me. Why can’t I just tell my brain to stop thinking so I can learn like everyone else?”.
Well, he has been trying so hard this year. Harder then a 9 year old should.
And his attempts have finally paid off! He has been awarded student of the month for January! He is getting an award during an assembly on February 6th in front of the entire school!
I haven’t told him yet because I just got the letter asking me to attend but I am so proud and excited for him. He is such a smart kid he just learns differently then others.
Ok. Im done now I just had to brag. He deserves this so much. I know to some it’s not a big deal but for my little guy it means the world. I honestly never thought it would happen but I knew he could do it.
Re: My 9 year old son got Student of the month!
Congratulations to your son! That really is great and just the positive reinforcement he needs! You have every right to be proud.
Thank
Thank you so much. I am very proud of him. And I know when he finds out he will be proud of himself too.
Thanks again
Re: My 9 year old son got Student of the month!
Congrats to your son!!! He is going to be so excited. It’ll be a priceless moment when his name is read. Got the camera battery charged?
Wow!
Talk about a huge self-esteem booster. He’s such an inspiration for other parents with kids struggling in school. Brag away!!! Both of you deserve it.

Congratulations from me too! Sounds like a good reason to go for icecream! or maybe hot chocolate and pie if the whether there is anything like it is here. My cars thermometer was just reading -4, and it’s only 7:30pm.
A big hi 5 to him (and you)!!
It is nice to read good news for a change! Please let us know how the ceremony goes and be sure to treat him to something really nice afterwards.
