This is a bit technical, but:
1. What is the difference between the UNIT and the C-TONI?
2. Can someone suspected of speech & language disorder be given one of these tests in place of a WISC when doing an evaluation, in order to get a better indication of IQ?
Thank you.
Hi Judy,
I can’t tell you about the difference between the two but I can tell you that at my school they use the UNIT. Sometimes it’s used for the reason you cite- when the psych. thinks that the WISC underestimates potential due to speech & lang. disorder (though often they will just go with the higher performance IQ score) . We also use it for kids who come from different cultures and first spoke languages other than English— we’ve got a bunch of ‘em.
