Hello all- so glad I found this place ;-)

greetings,

I just stumbeled here today for the first time, and i am so glad I did.

I am an adult with learning disabilities, and I have two children with disabilities as well. My son was ID’ed by the PS as both gifted and LD, my daughter just missed the 130 cutoff for the gifted ID but passed the LD Identification tests with flying colors.

I played around with the public school for a few years, But I got tired of “catch them breaking the law again game” so two years ago I pulled them out in favor of home school. Best desicion I ever made.

I just woke up one morning and relized that sending them to public school 8 hours a day was seriously starting to interfere with their education.
Talk about wasted time.

I almost regret the 3 yrs I wasted embarrising the public school district, *almost* being the pertainate word. Got to admit those three years sure make me appreciative of the life we now have, and homeschooling is far easier then trying to enforce IDEA law.

Mia, I certainly can identify with you. My son is gifted LD and we have been homeschooling since 3rd grade. He is now in 6th and is doing very well. Sometimes I get discouraged about homeschooling then I remind myself at least it isn’t as bad as Public school. We are in AL and they are homeschool friendly, thank God. In fact, all of his teachers encouraged me to homeschool. They said the school had nothing to offer him. Good Luck, Jan
