:D My child has ADHD, processing disorder, and LD in written expression. These are the accomodations we got from the neuropsy:

Occupational therapy for handwriting skills

Use of voice activated software to complete all written assingments

No essay questions Minimum written output on test, allowed to answer orally

Additional time on timed test, completion of homework and in class

assignments
Teacher outline and use tape recorder for lectures

Allow him to make a xerox copy of good students notes when needed

Place fewer problems on a page

Avoid copying from board Provide handouts

Verbalize responses and tape record them prior to writing his answers

Written requirements should be reduced in assignments and tests

written projects be completed in alternative formats such as brief descriptions

Multiple choice or fill in the blank test

Allow use of computer for written assignments

I hope this helps some!! Jan

Mikesmom, I would add that your son be able to do over written assignments. This allows him the opportunity to succeed.

Our son is not penalized for turning in work late.

He e-mails his teachers every Wednesday AM asking if he is current. They must responde by Friday AM with any missing assigments and if he is current on long term assigments. That way we can discuss this work and get extra copies or whatever so he can get current over the weekend.

Better than trying to do three months of work the last week before grades…
