(and yes, that is a freudian pun)

Don’t read this one while eating.

BRILLIANT!!!

And to think all these years I have been a latent oral-anal-phallic learner! No wonder so many call me those awful names ;)

Freud keeps “slipping” into our lives in so many ways, is it any wonder we can’t shed Bettleheim?

Favorite quote from Freud: “We will see who is stronger - a frail little girl or a grown man with cocaine in his blood.”

‘Nuff said.

This article cites this information is coming from “The Onion” which is a farcical based newspaper — it isn’t meant to be taken seriously. I wonder how it ended up being cited as a valid article on LD Online?

I won’t presume to speak for the people who run this fine site, but I think it may be intended to be taken tongue-in-cheek. We hear alot of confusing “eduspeak” from various persons in and out of the public education system, and I believe this is to show just how far the “edubabble” can go if we allow ourselves to get sucked in.

Bottom line, regardless of how you try to pigeonhole our children, they are still kids and though they may need specific interventions or modifications it does not change the fact that they have as much in common with the typical herd as they have differences.

I think too, by referencing Freud, they are showing that just because someone famous once said something does not mean that it is valid per se.

I found it to be quite funny myself, and must admit I laughed out loud as I read thru it (thankfully my kids weren’t around, they already think I am certifiable).
