Does anyone know where to find used materials as kids grow out of current levels? It would be nice not to have to spend a lot to try programs to see how they work for our kids. It is so expensive to buy everything new, and most used curriculum boards have little for special needs. What do families do with their Audiblox, PACE materials, and other items when their kids outgrow them? Thanks for your help.
Re: Where to find used materials as child's needs change?
Alynn,
You might want to try http://theswap.com/dcforum/dcboard.cgi
They have a site for special needs curriculum exchange.
One thing I use that really works is a planner from www.familyhomeschool.com
It helps me keep my records intact and keep my son’s goals focused.
I hope that helps.

Audiblox and PACE (BrainSkills) both license their materials for use only with a single child or in a family. Their materials are not licensed for resale, and I think that is the major reason why they are not seen on used curriculum boards. Also, both programs can be used periodically over the course of many years to sharpen skills, even into adulthood. Families probably hang on to them in case they want to “refresh” or go further with the program at a later date.
There is a group on Yahoo that was established to facilitate purchase and sale of special needs curriculum items. It has not been very active, but it might be worth posting there. I think the name of it is SNAHswap.
I have seen TLP kits sell on eBAY for $300. Probably Earobics CD’s come up for sale there once in awhile too. I doubt that you would ever see Audiblox, PACE or BrainSkills kits there because of their licensing limitations.
