I am taking the Praxis again in three weeks. I have the study guide but would like so more info on how to teach deaf and visually impaired LD students. There were a few questions on the test that I didn’t even understand. Is there another resource I can look at that will help me answer these question?

Wow, I teach hearing impaired and it took a couple of years of courses to learn to teach them, so I can’t imagine giving someone an overview that could help on a test! Some common accommodations for a HI child would be to seat them where they can see you and the board clearly, use the FM system anytime you are speaking to the class, seat the child away from noise sources, use visual aids as much as possible, use captioned videos when viewing films, never speak when you back as turned like when writing on the board, etc.

An SLP or audiologist would be a good place to start for the Deaf kids and for the visually impaired perhaps an OT or optometrist For SLP’s there is a huge red book published by Pro-Ed called an Advanced Review fo Speeech-Language Pathology to prepare for NESPA and Comprehensive Examinations by Roseberry-McKibbin and Hegde. Perhaps your college would have this book in the library.
Also what helped me was to do as many practice PRAXIS tests as I could and to work on improving my deductive reasoning skills so that I could zing through the questions ASAP. I was able to answer all the questions on the PRAXIS and pass the first time around. Also if you get test anxiety you may want to take 2 extra strength Tylenol just to keep that from being a problem.
