Need Help On Senior Lecture- About Dyslexia

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hi! I am a senior in high school and I have decided to do my senior lecture on dyslexia. My sister and my cousin both have been diagnosed with dyslexia, therefore I decided it would be a good topic. I know a little about dyslexia but I really don’t know enough. I just wanted to see if anyone could help me… and if you can please reply! I need helpful books, websites, or any other type of material that has helped you out.
I also want to become an elementary school teacher, hopefully helping kids with dyslexia. I just want to help as many children as I can.
Thank you for your time and all of your help!

On this same website, go to the top bar and click on “LD In Depth” There is a lot of information there.

I am really glad you are looking for resources and doing the background reading, and not just asking people here to do that for you. Good luck and email me or post again if you want to ask any questions.

I recommend two books, “Overcoming Dyslexia” by Sally Shaywitz and “You don’t Have to be Dyslexic” by Joan Smith. Also Richard Lavoie’s video F.A.T. City (Frustration, Anxiety and Tension). Good luck.
