CoWriter is a worthwhile software for some people. It can slow down keyboarding for many who tried it, but for others it helps reduce keystrokes. I find most people who keyboard well do not use it. People who need to reduce keystrokes often like it. You also have to becareful because do you want your child to formulate their own language? Go to sites like Closing The Gap and LDResources to gain more information. If you try it, can you get it on a trial first.
How about a talking word processor? IntelliTalk comes to mind -
