College in NJ for ld student

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hello,
I am tutoring a young man who is LD and his mother asked about colleges in NJ which offer good support for LD students. I am aware of Petersen’s Guide, but would like to hear personal experiences.

thank you,
ellen

Hi. Best I know of is Middlesex County College, in Edison.
I do not reccommend Kean University (Union, NJ).
I don’t know how well Rutgers U. is doing.
I _*__STRONGLY__*_ reccomend a Community College
(county college) first, before any state institution.
Check with the local NJ DVRS office (under NJ Dept. of Labor).
They might know. How far away does the kid want to be?
Does the kid (student) drive? Does he want to live at home,
or in a dorm? How much financing does the family have for college?
These questions will help select the best college.
