Terbutaline for preterm labor

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Were any of you administered Terbutaline during your pregnancy for preterm labor? I was on an infustion pump for several months as were several women I know. All of our sons have had “issues” ranging from motor delays to ADHD. Sometimes I wonder if the Terbutaline or other drugs during pregnancy had anything to do with it.

Yes, I took Terbutaline during my first pregnacy but not the second.

My older child is mildly dysgraphic and non-mildly  ADHD.

The younger child is severly dysgraphic, SID, and apraxia.

So I’m not sure what that means!

Also, in our cases, the dysgraphic and ADHD are diffinately in their genes.

I do believe it has something to do with the difficulties my son is having.
I had a relatively calm baby in a head down presentation then I was given terbutaline and it felt like he was having seizures inside me and ended up in a footling breech presentation and an emergency c-section.

I have two other children one older (14) with ADD and no LD one younger (5) who was doing her middle (almost 7) brothers homework last year when he couldn’t so she has no discernable LD and she’s not even in kindergarten yet and neither of the other two were exposed to terbutaline.

I’ve been poo-pooed for suggesting that terbutaline had anything whatsoever to do with his difficulties, that his prematurity was more likely to be the cause I say thats bull, they were all preemies and they were all bigger than I was when I was born by about twice as much.
