math editors
Most higher level math teachers/profs use an equation editor for preparing work for publishing or preparing tests, etc. they work with most popular word porcessing programs, eg. word. Try an educational software seller such as learning services (www.learnserv.com, i think) or edresources.com (they do a better catalog than website) both have 800 numbers.
let’s not let handwriting hold back a blazing mind.
Re: Typeing
Microsoft Word has an equation editor that you can access (go to “help” and type in equation editor); it’s not a “default” option so it’s not obvious that you can do it.
MathType is another program (actually, I believe, an extension of the Word option) that takes it a little higher. http://www.mathtype.com will give you more information.
It’s one of those things that it takes a little while to figure out, but is worth it once you have it. You might want to ask a teacher to figure it out so s/he could do a little guiding and encouraging (and then they’d know it ofr future students), if that’s a feasible option.
Look into an alphasmart-like portable word processor called Calcuscribe. It can type out math problems.
