I have to admit, I laughed out loud when I read it, but then I am sick like that…
I replied to a private message here on LDOnline, and in the process of expressing myself I used the word @$$holes (normally in forums like these I strive to refain from being a potty mouth, but sometimes the well chosen word will convey the emotion like no other). Later when I reread what I wrote (after hitting send) I found out that LDOnline replaced my descriptor with *censored* …
Ordinarily I would bristle at having my words edited, but I realize that this is a famliy site (which extends presumedly to private messages as well as public postings) and was done automatically by the computers and not by some team of moderators, carefully poring over each word looking for the no-no’s.
Hey, I know this is OT and basically irrelevant to the grand scheme of things, but it tickled me.
Sometimes you just have to laugh.
On one forum I post on, people have taken to writting “[deleted]” rather than a word they know the auto censor will delete. Nice of them to save the computer work! ; )
On another forum, the computer has taken to replacing the letters a s s where ever they appear with ***, including IN words. Makes for some interesting reading but I can only ***ume the programer had the boards best interest in heart.
