I had asked my DS last week what his reading teachers’ name is and he didn’t know. I found out this morning what her name is from another mom. SO when I just picked up him I told him I found out her name . He said he already knew.
“so why didn’t you tell me when I asked you?” I said
” well I was in the mansion of my mind, and I lost the word” he said.
I started laughing at his analogy and he kept going - telling me his brain is big and powerful like a mansion, but since he can’t be everywhere at once sometimes he loses things for a while.
Thought you’d all enjoy this!
Re: The Mansion that is my son's brain - according to him
An excellent image!
Now encourage him to put some filing cabinets in those rooms and organize things in categories in the cabinets. Seriously, this is a good way to organize your memory, to have a visual search plan.
Re: The Mansion that is my son's brain - according to him
I think age must make our modest houses expand into mansions!! I have that experience all too often….
Your son has a wonderful way of expressing himself.

There are few people in the world who could truly appreciate this analogy - thank you for sharing the humor with me!
Victoria - I am trying to “furnish” his mansion with some file cabinets - its a long long long haul!
Sounds like my kid with a better vocabulary- :D
