starting meds with ADD inattentive/impulsive 3 yr oldhad inc

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hi, I’m new here. We’re on day 5 of Ritalin LA and it has been a dream so far, much more focus and follow-through and cessation of impulsive hitting, grabbing etc. But he’s started to have increased rebound symptoms at 5 pm like clockwork. Wondering what other parents do with their kid during the rebound time. Today it lasted almost an hour. Also, I’d love to hear other parents’ experience with this drug, whether it stopped working or had increased side effects over time and how long did that take to happen, etc.
Also, any other input from parents who have medicated a child at this age.

Thanks so much.

No personal experience with a child that age

What is happening during rebound? Have you spoken with the prescribing doctor? Perhaps this isnt the correct medication or dose.

Or….it might just ease off in 10-14 days. I would give it that amount of time before I made too big of judgement, although it never hurts to call the dr

We do weekly callins with our pediatrician anytime theres a medication change
