That is certainly is a common rumor. I’ve never heard it officially confirmed or denied.

My personal belief?
I don’t think so.

If it is true, I would hope he would admit it and use it as a training tool. ie teach others what LD is and is not. Rockefolloer, as VP, was very open about his dyslexia. People still precived him as intelligent and capable, even if he did have to have an aide read his letters to him.

Doesn’t he have a B.A. from Yale and an MBA from Harvard? Okay, so he partied a little and got a bunch of Cs. And then he learned to fly jet fighters and then he got himself elected a couple of times.

I wish I was that successful and only had to put up with getting tongue-tied every so often. :)

And one thing I’d like to learn from Senator Kerry - how to marry one rich woman after another. :)

Way back when W’s mom Barbara was the First Lady, didn’t she lead some sort of awareness program for reading disabled kids? And I vaguely remember she was inspired to do so because someone in her family had reading problems as a child. Now, at the time I thought it was her husband, W Senior, that had the problem when he was a child. Now I think it is more likely that it was W Junior, the current Resident.

However, anti depressants and some mood stabilizers (like Depakote) can have this same lousy effect. I know, because I’m experiencing the same thing, because of the Depakote I take. I can’t remember words, I can’t put together intelligent sentences, I check out occasionally and loose interest. (“Where is Osama bin Laden? I don’t know, I don’t really care.”) It wouldn’t surprise me at all to find that W takes some sort of anti depressent, anti anxiety med or mood stabilizer.

I try to be compassionate where W’s speechifying is concerned. But it still was soooo satisfying when Ol’ Bill Clinton gave his speech at the Demo convention. The man tore it up.

There is no doubt in my mind that he has LD and or ADHD. As a person with NLD and dyslexia, until I became more careful when speaking, I have made the exact same errors that Bush has made when he spoke.

Everyone points out how he did so well in the debate against Anne Richards when he initially ran for governor and how coherent he sounded. But what people don’t realize is that that debate was a very favorable atmosphere for Bush. But if you think about various situations he has been in, when he is caught off guard, he stammers more than the average person would do in that in his situation.

I remember one press conference that he had in which he had a classic LD moment as he confessed that the questioner had caught him off guard.

Also and I forget when (thanks to my LD moment), there was an article in the Washington Post quoting LD experts who definitely thought that Bush having LD was a strong possibility. Of course, they aren’t the ultimate authority but obviously, this issue is more than just a rumor.

In case you think I am making excuses for him, I think he is the worst president our country has ever had. The thought of him being reelected scares the daylights out of me. Frankly, I am not even sure I would want him confessing his LD as I feel he would set our movement back for years.

But getting off my partisian soapbox, if I were George W. right now, the last thing I would do is admit that I had LD. Not when I am tied with my challenger in the race.

I agree PT1. About everything. Especially that I don’t hope he will confess to having an ld, that would really make some things worse, I believe. But I don’t think he ever will. It’s not exactly a power to have a ld, and he needs power, one way or the other, for one… or more reasons.

Because I believe that he has a ld, it makes me angry when people attack him for saying stupid things. I think there is enough of other reasons to attack him. But of course, I do laugh sometimes, some of the mistakes are so weird, and I’m only human.

He is too, though. And that says a lot coming from a girl who likes Michael Moore ;-)

Now that he has one I would like to know for sure one way or another. Maybe I should write to Oprah and she would ask him!

W has said…on more than one occasion, and very vocally at that that he does not have an LD. None,nada, no way.
His brother , Neil, is dyslexic and attended schools for college bound LDers.
