ADHD/Medicate-Non-Medicate

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hi, how are you? I am a certified teacher working on my thesis. My topic is ADHD/Medicate-Non-Medicate. I am looking for two more children to participate in my study. The information would be confidential and only used for the purpose of my study. I am willing to tutor free of charge. I am located in Brooklyn, New York. The joint effort would help others in the future. Thank you very much.

Hi
My son, Deodean, was diagnosed with ADHD in 2000. We started with Retalin. He is in Grade 2 at the moment. Then we started with Occupational Therapy. There is a big difference in him. We struggle with his reading and phonics. Prepare reading is good but his unprepared reading is very bad. Does not have confidence in him to be able to read the words. Please can you help usB. I have a 10 year old that has been on meds for more than 3 years. I am also a teacher myself. I would be interested but would like to know what type of participation you are looking for from the child.

Once a correct diagnosis of ADHD is made which may take time, it’s possible to try the ADHD meds to see if they work. The ADHD meds do not work for everyone. That’s just the real world.

There are some children and adults with ADHD where the ADHD meds are appropropriate; there are other children and adults with ADHD where the meds are not appropriate because they do not work or they do not work well.

The idea of medicating/not-medicating often depends on whether the ADHD meds actually work for a particular person and that cannot be determined theoretically at all, that is, without taking them. That’s my understanding.

Good luck.

Sorry, we went on vacation the day after I posted. We are located in New Jersey, the top end of what is considered “South Jersey”.

This post is a little unusual. I hope parents who are considering taking advantage of this solicitation in person are checking it out before involving their children.

Not enough information for me.
