The question was asked as to how many adults are LD. That question was never answered. This site is called LD online. Right?
I think the simple answer may be that it is the same percentage of kids that are LD. Here is what is disheartening. There are some programs for kids with LDs but those programs are not very effective. Adults have zero, zilch, nada, nil, nothing in the way of help.
What is there for the unknown number of LD adults? Sadly there is nothing but lip service.
There are two possible paths for help.
1. Medical treatment for LD but so far there has been little study in the field of cognitive rehab.
2. Accomodation. We know that isn’t happening.
What we seem to have here is blame the victim and this is supposed to be a resource for LDers.
Disheartened? You bet!

bgb, what you’re missing is that this poster’s original post was not asking for help, it was another effort to find people to blame and to cause trouble on the board. People who have been caught up in this approach a few times have learned not to answer this stuff.

Barb, feel free to participate in any discussion you wish. From the posts of yours that I have read you sound like a very bright person.
You don’t need anyone telling you what you can and can’t do.
I for one find your posts interesting and informative.

I can hear your frustration. I wish I could help.
We are in a mean time. There used to be more informal accomidations (I think). Now everything is a struggle. Things will change back; they always do.
Where we part company is this board. I don’t see it as a “blame the victim” place, but then, I don’t read all the posts. Maybe I’m missing something.
