[quote:2a9f88eab3=”bgb”]LOL!
I love reading stuff by nuts who claim there is a huge conspearacy!
“…millions of dyslexics have been deprived breakthrough medical treatment and therapy by a self serving establishment…” Here is this hugh secreat on the net and NONE of the news networks have picked this up!!!!!!
I’m afraid I didn’t read the whole article. Who does he claim is this “self serving establishment?”
bgb, the day you graduate from medical school and hold the position that Harold Levinson has held and recieved the accolades and obtasined his acredidations then you can call the man a nut. I can read his books. I can read what he reads and I can understand his research and you cannot. I would suggest that before you call an educated and erudite man like Harold Levinson MD a nut I would sugeest that you do some of his study and course work.
If you would care to call him a nut here is his address and phone number.
Harold Levinson, (301) 593-8041, 614 University Blvd W, Silver Spring, MD 20901
Here is a list of PROFESSOR DR, HAROLD N LEVINSON’S sceintific research papers. http://www.dyslexiaonline.com/evidence/papers.html
Doctor Harold Levinson MD is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at NYU Medical Center and Director of the Medical Dyslexic Treatment Center in New York. He has two daughters who both struggle with dyslexia. So Ms Bloom if you feel that this guy is a NUT maybe you should get intouch with the president of NYU and tell him.
There are conspiracies. It is quite interesting that noone from the FDA, FTC, and the pharmaceatical industry will comment or debate Keven Trudeau. He is mocking them on TV and making them look like crooked fools and no matter how many new media outlet ask them for an interview to address Trudeau’s allegations they all decline because they are all guilty of everything Trudeau say they are. They could sue the shit out of Trudeau but they know they would lose.
Before you trash a man who is a doctore and a college professor at NYU I would suggest that you do some research first.
Harold N Levinson has forgotten more than you will ever know.
Here are what some other “NUTS” are saying about one of Levinson’s books.
“This important book offers much hope for dyslexics and their families.”
-Booklist
“Success is not measured by heights attained, but by obstacles overcome. It is my hope that this book will help other dyslexics to realize their full potential.”
-Bruce Jenner
“A book of major importance.…Dr. Levinson is to be commended for his persistence in challenging old ideas, providing new solutions, and explaining them so clearly.”
-Dr. Norman G. Walker, chairman, Curriculum and Supervision Department, State University College at Buffalo, New York
“A much-needed book!…Should be most useful to all parents and teachers who wish to help children and adults with inappropriate learning behavior.”
-Eli Tash, director of research, St. Francis Children’s Activity and Achievement Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and past president, Association of Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities
“A marvelous resource to share with parents of our children with dyslexia…a model to all who do research with the hope of making life better for others.”
-Joan M. Smith, Ed.D., licensed speech pathologist and educational psychologist, Melvin-Smith Learning Center, Sacramento, California
“This text is brilliantly written…may well prevent the bruising of the self-esteem and egos of young schoolchildren.”
-Leonard S. Girsh, M.D., director, Allergy & Clinical Immunology, Medical College of Pennsylvania, and chairman, Neuro-Allergy Committee, American College of Allergists
“SMART BUT FEELING DUMB for the first time catalogues in an easy-reading manner the various presentations of dyslexia. It brings hope to the many afflicted and will spur relevant research in this area to further improve the concepts and treatment.”
-Kenneth H. Brookler, M.D., M.S., F.R.C.S.C., F.A.C.S., past president, The American Neurotology Society, and clinical professor of otolaryngology, New York Medical College
“Magnificent…a spectacular breakthrough…a monumental step forward in managing learning disabilities and the attending frustrations.”
-Wallace Rubin, M.D., clinical professor of otorhinolaryngology and biocommunication, Louisiana State University of Medicine
“An important contribution, linking twenty years of clinical experience with recent discoveries. This book provides a wealth of clearly presented clinical information. It is appealing to both the parent and the professional.”
-Reuven Kohen-Raz, Ph.D., chairman, Special Education Department, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel
“A much-needed book for the many thousands of persons with learning disabilities…should be most useful to all parents and teachers who wish to help children and adults with inappropriate learning behaviors.”
-Eli Tash, director of research, St. Francis Children’s Activity and Achievement Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and former president, The Association of Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities
So Barb, before you go trashing a man of Levinson’s qulaity I would suggest that you research the man like I have done.
This article should go over your head enough for you to make some more wrong generalizations.

Re: A link and email to a doctor who can help you
Well, Tammy, one can be very well educated and still be a nut.
And I could get people to back me in that the sky is green….
I quit reading stuff on suite101 a long time ago. Some of the article were really good but a significant portion were so poorly researched and written it wasn’t worth the time. I don’t beleive they have any peer review before they post articles.
If you have an article by Dr. Levinson, on this topic, in a quality peer reviewed journal, I’d love to read it.

I, too, tend to stop listening when the only defense to plausible arguments is “well, everybody’s against me! It’s a conspiracy!” (Something like “it’s all the media! They distort everything!”)
It is sad when there *is* something plausible in the work (as there often is). There’s really no way to find out when somebody has selling their idea/product as such a much higher priority than finding truth.

What are you talking about? Can you be more specific?
If you don’t understand what Levinson is doing that is one thing but if you a problem with his methods or assertions please tell us why you think he is wrong instead of all the ad hominem stuff.
Trashing an astute scientist like Harold Levinson serves no purpose. If you have something about what he says that you disagree with then let’s hear it.
Let’s face facts Sue and Barb. As it stands now people with LD have very little to turn to. Alison’s posts accurately portray how it is for many LD victims. So far the powers that be in the LD game offer nothing of value to LD sufferers. Hell, they can’t even get together on a defintion.
People like Victoria who are in the trenches slugging it out day after day using common sense teaching methods are the only people doing anything worthwhile. It seems that the so called experts are muddying the water and offerring confusion.
SO Barb and Sue what is Levinson saying that you 2 have a problem with?
Re: A link and email to a doctor who can help you
I’m sorry Tammy.
I have a learning disability. I read and write very v e r y slowly.
Levinson has so much junk, so much salesmanship, as Sue said, that its difficult for to tell what he’s saying. I figure if he were on the up-and-up he wouldn’t need that stuff.
If he were on the up and up, others WOULD study what he was doing. The world is too open, info is too available, to beleive him when he implys he’s the sole source of truth.
In the time that it takes me to wade though his website, I can read three well reseached, well documented articles on LD. My time is limited. I can’t waste it on him.
