Is it legal to not inform the school of your childs medical treament? Must you notify the school if and when the medical treament changes? and why?

I don’t believe you are required to by law, but each state is different. You should call your state dept. of education. As a teacher, however, it is important to know of medical conditions, particularly if medication is involved. If a student has a reaction to something or gets hurt in school, any emergency medical treatment might be compromised. You should at least inform the school nurse.

I personally have always found the teachers to be understanding and willing to help in any way possible. Children with ADHD may need different kinds of instruction, or at the very least, more patiance than the average student. If the teacher is not informed the teacher as well as your child may become frustrated. This is not a good situation for anyone. Your child spends many hours a day with their teacher. Whether you like it or not you have formed a type of partnership with that teacher for your childs’ well being. That includes being informed of any difficulties your child may run into.

yes i agree with u. at least the teacher should know what is the side effect of the drug or how’s the drug can help the student . medication is very important. some time we couldnt just do any therapy without the medication.i think with combination of medication and therapy , it helps alot.

It’s not the law, but is for any reason he/she has any leagal problem in school it may be the only way to help them. There are alot of laws which every school has to ovied by but you the parent has the final say. What ever you don’t listen to what the school has to say but ask people you know with students in classes like that what they do. I’m an A.D.D.er and an E.M.T., I would let the teachers know but NOT with the kid there, it will only embares them more.
