Hi, I haven’t posted in a long time. My 15 yo daughter has had major academic and cognitive regression over the last 12 months (in areas of attention and memory) She’s been off stimulants, and we’re reintroducing them now. She showed a 22 pt drop in FSIQ on WISC-IV over a one year period. WJIII also shows similar drops. We’ve had a neuro exam and EEG which came back normal. Waiting on blood labs and MRI.
My question: What kind of motivation strategies have worked for you guys? I’m hoping reintroducing stimulants will help with her attention and ability to store/recall information, but it’s really hard for her right now and she gets immediately frustrated and upset with the first hard thing. Any and all ideas are welcome. Thanks.
find what she is interested in and work with that.. ie, if she is interested in fashion, you can do an entire curriculum around it.. you also need to work wit the school and get them to give her work that she is interested in..
if this isn’t happening, then the school is failing her..
there must be something that she is interested in, even if she acts as if there isn’t..
