Interactive Metronome vs Pace

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I have a 8 year old with adhd on concerta. He is very bright but lacking in social skills. He is also very uncoordinated and has problems with fine and gross motor skills. I have went to a gal that is selling both products. Both are pricy and I would like feed back before I go into them. I really think IM would benefit my son but they do say it is boring and hard to make the kids stick with it. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ann

We did PACe with minimal benefits and did IM with great benefits. IM works on the sensory motor aspect of development. PACE just touches on that and works mainly on the cognitive aspect. If a child doesn’t have issues on the sensory motor level, it is a good program. Our child’s difficulties appear to be mostly sensory motor based and we’ve had the best results with programs that address that need.

I regret not doing IM before PACE. I feel like we basically wasted time and money with PACE since his problems were located at the sensory motor level.

My son had great progress with IM. I think the two biggest gains were in attention and sequencing.

It did wonders for his math issues. My son had sensory motor issues as well.

There is a discussion of IM on the parenting an ld child board. You might want to take a look.
