I’m wondering whether I should request that my 8 year old daughter not do the standardized statewide testing. What are the pros and cons of putting a LD child through this? She would get a quiet room and as much time as she needs but I’m thinking it would be really frustrating and not give us much useful information. Then again, all the other kids will be doing it. Does anyone know how to be excused from the testing?

Firstly ask your daughter whether she wants to do the test or not?
If she doesn’t, it can be a lot simpler to just write a ‘sick note’for the day. Though you need to find out whether she will still have to do the test later? But often they dont.
