my 10 yr old with adhd

my son is 10 and adhd he is in teh 5th grade and seems to say in trouble all the time he is on meds and has a therpy dr we are working with he has an iep at school but i dont feel like the school is doing ther job to help him he has been suspeneded twice for 5 days and this is not helping his grades at all

what rights do i have as a parent????

can any other parent out there help me with this ???

You can request an IEP meeting at any time, if you think the program needs review or changing.

You may also want to get a second opinion on his dx and meds. This could help to see if there is more than just ADHD behaviors going on. Some kids, even with just ADHD, don’t do well on the meds prescribed for ADHD. It can improve cognition and academic preformance but may cause other behavioral issues.

I also recommend that you read From Emotions to Advocacy by Pete and Pam Wright. Its an excellent book on how to understand the system, work with staff and organize documentation. http://www.wrightslaw.com
