Project Read

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I’m considering hiring a private tutor for my son who uses a curriculum called Project Read. Has anyone had any experience with this program? Is it effective for LD children? Thanks.

EMAILNOTICES>noProject Read was designed to reach the lower third of students in classrooms in the Bloomington, MN, schools. They were effective in lowering their remedial population to, I believe, 7 percent. I took the training several years ago, adapted it to whole classroom instruction, and was extremely successful. It is being used in many places with LD students. I’m sure you’re placing your child in good hands. Grace

I am responding to an old message you answered on Project Read. We are hoping to implement Project Read- Comprehension in our 5th and 6th mainstream classes with ICS Basic Skills students. Do you have any suggestions? Were you able to get through the curriculum in one year or did you break it up by grade levels? we were thinking of focusing on Story Form for the 5th grade and Report Form for the 6th. any info on your experiences would be appreciated.
