My son 12 just recieved his “ISEE” standardized testing scores and they are dissmal at best. He has performed much better at the specialized school that he has attended for 4 years. He did have the extra time for the test, but the results really poor. Any info?
Thank You.
When you say he performed better at the specialized school, what do you mean? Does the school show results in any measurable way? I have found grading etc. to be somewhat subjective in schools. In first grade, I was frequently told my daughter was struggling, but you wouldn’t necessarily know that looking at her report card. We did not have a measure of how far she was behind in math until we recently had her tested by a psychologist. Another thing to consider is expectations. My daughter’s school last year seemed to have somewhat low expectations for her. This year at her new school, the expectations are higher, and she is doing better. There is a chance your son is doing better than the other kids at his school, but when he compared with kids at other schools, he is considerably behind. I also wonder if he is not accustomed to taking standardized tests. I’ve also noticed my daughter has been doing progressively better in standardized tests because she knows what to do now for some tests. Practice does help.
