Hey everyone! I would like to start off apologizing for any confusion that may be experienced reading my post. I have not been tested yet for LD and I don’t know what type of LD I have but I know I have it. Right now I am having a hard time just writing everything down. Let me just start by saying that I have read a lot of this forum and what others experience and I do not remember anything, all I know is that I experience the same things. Like others I can’t focus, remember, understand, feel confused, frustrated, lost, and… i don’t know, plain dumb or stupid. As I read other posts I feel a little better about myself knowing I am not the only one with this problem. But I feel I am so mixed up that no one will be able to help me. Maybe if there is a questionnaire that I can take to find out more about me, no, maybe not… I don’t know.
A couple of question… Should I go to a psychologist or psychiatrist? What types of medications or methods or treatments are out there for someone like me?
Again sorry of any confusion. If you understand this I give you credit because in my mind everything is just all everywhere.
If anyone can help me and understand me I would really appreciate it.
HELP! HELP! HELP!
Thank you.
Re: Newbie here
Hey idon’tknow808~ Sounds like you have the same LD as me! Auditory Processing Disorder.. Here’s some info: What are the symptoms of possible auditory processing difficulty?
Have trouble paying attention to and remembering information presented orally
Have problems carrying out multistep directions
Have poor listening skills
Need more time to process information
Have low academic performance
Have behavior problems
Have language difficulty (e.g., they confuse syllable sequences and have problems developing vocabulary and understanding language)
Have difficulty with reading, comprehension, spelling, and vocabulary
That sounds about what you were talking about. If you don’t mind me asking, what state are you from? I’ve been looking for someone that has the same learning disablity as me forever. It would be great to meet you.
I would suggest that first you look around you for helpful resources. If you are in school, look for the Disability Services Department or the Counseling Services. If you are working, does your company have a program for mental health services or employee personal needs (can’t remember what its called…we all have our moments). You are smart to recognize that you have questions and want to find help. Best wishes.
