Hello, every one, I am new to the forum, and i really need your help my daughter CAPD, has recently qualified for special education services in reading writing and math. she is in the 4th grade. The problem i’m having is with your class schedule. she sees her reading, writing and math resource teachers in the morning. however in the aftenoon she goes to social studies for 15 mins, then on to lunch, recess, specials and then back to social studies from here she joins her science class, which has already started. is this normal? can i have her schedule change?
Unfortunately it is normal. Pull out supports often don’t match up well with the teacher schedules, no matter how hard they try to do it. The resource teachers have a lot of kids to see and only so much time to fit them all in.
My daughter missed out on a lot of things in her gen ed class because of resource helps in elementary school.
You can ask if they can switch things a bit so she isn’t missing so much of the science, especially if this is a favorite subject. It never hurts to ask. :)
