I will be taking an ASL101 course this fall in college. It’s to fulfill my foreign language requirement for my degree. I have a visual processing disability and am worried about having visualize the signs as I learn them. I’ve read that the deaf population thinks visually, and this is how the language is primarily learned, by visualizing.
Am I setting myself up for defeat by taking this class? Any input by someone with experience is appreciated.

It might actually help you with your visual processing disability?
Though it doesn’t just use visualizing, as it is uses the ‘kinesthetic’ sense where you form the signs with your hands/ fingers. So that you also ‘feel’ the signs.
I might also ask what visual processing difficulties you experience? As visualizing is a skill that we learn through practice.
