Suggestions for a child with visual processing difficulties

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

My 3rd grade daughter has been recently diagnosed with a visual processing disorder. More specifically spatial relation / position in space.

She has been receiving Wilson for the past 2 years and making slow progress. At our IEP meeting the team did not believe that Wilson was the best program for her considering her strengths and this specific weakness. Her key strength is comprehension. She scored average to above average in most phonemic tests, which was surprising to the team.(they thought she might score poorly here as well)

We left the meeting without an alternative to Wilson, but the school was going to investigate. Does anyone have suggestions on a program for a child with visual processing difficulties?

As a side note, she has also begun Vision Therapy which seems promising as well.
