There are new strategies, technologies, ideas always
on the horizon. Are you planning to implement any new strategies, cirriculum, methodology, technology this year in your classroom?

Would love to hear your first hand experiences. What is working? What engaged your students? How could parent’s be more supportive to your efforts? How could teachers and parents best tag team to benefit their chidren? Please share your collaboration, project and technology ideas for engaging students with LDs.

I find that technology is a great way to capture students’ attention in even the most mundane subjects. The simple integration of an inexpensive laptop and projector changes things as one is able to bring up graphical representations and use other multi-sensory modalities to reach the kids. I think if you can afford to put it in your room it is the teacher’s best friend.

I wholeheartedly agree. Technology as a tool used by a skilled instructor can help a teacher tune students in. It is amazing to be able to see a skilled teacher use such these tools to engage all the senses to make that connection with kids.

I’m a computer teacher at a small school in Mesquite, Texas. I’ve found that the more you can adapt your material with the things they are interested in, the faster they will learn and more attentive they will be.

I basically have it setup for them to learn the fundamentals of computing, but apply them to things they have interest in!
