Is anyone familiar with the PACE Program associated with National-Louis University in IL? Of course, everything on the website makes it sound as if the student will acquire everything they need to become successful and independent. I’m really looking for an unbiased opinion about the program from someone not affiliated with the program -maybe a parent or former student.
I have two daughters who have learning disabilities /low average IQs. Just looking for an environment that will provide an opportunity for them to mature and grow intellectually. College may be on the horizon at some point, but not for the next couple of years at least.
Post Secondary Life Skills Programs
I am also looking for a post secondary program for our daughter. PACE was an option and it does have an appealing program. However, it is not approved by the ISBE therefore it does not meet some criteria. Also, all meals are from Ruby Tuesdays, which could get old fast. Living in an extended stay hotel was not my first choice for her either. The staff seems wonderful and the program is solid.
This post has been up for a long time so I don’t know whether you’re still checking for responses, but if so I would recommend looking into the Lesley University Threshold Program. I’m a biased source but I think it’s absolutely fantastic for young adults who want a college experience, vocational training, independent living skills training, and opportunities for social engagement.
