Reading Program

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hi everyone! I’m new here. I teach middle school LD and DH students. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how I can create a reading program in my classroom that gets kids to truly enjoy and comprehend books. I don’t want an elaborate and expensive commercial program. I’m looking for personal suggestions or a referral to reading material for myself to learn more on the subject.

Thanks,
Laura

I have tons of suggestions. Unfortunately if I get going, aol is timing me out after about three paragraphs. Email me directly, I’ll type stuff up offline and post it later in case anyone else wants my suggestions. Waiting to hear from you.

I’m not sure how to email you directly. I get a little confused on these message boards sometimes. Here’s my email address [email protected]. Hope you get this because I’m really looking forward to reading your suggestions.

Thanks,
Laura

Unfortunately for our students, teaching reading isn’t really that simple. A *great* place to start learning about it is right here on this website under “LD In Depth” — Reading. There are lots of articles and you’ll find references to some classic books on the subject — also check out the “LD Store.”
