I wrote my son’s SLP teacher a note telling her how much I appreciate her wonderful help and that other people are telling me how much improvement they have seen.
She sent me a sweet note thanking me for my note and it said compliments to her are few and far between.
So if parents of your students have forgotten to tell you how important you are I am sorry.
I know for my son if it wasn’t for the great SLP’s he has had he would not have achieved anything he has.
When my son was in elementary school I used to
try and spoil the ‘ladies of resource’ with all the
same things I did for my son’s regular ed teachers.
In middle school, things and kids, are a bit different.
But I did send Christmas cards to his SE supervising
teacher, though he isn’t in any of her classes.
Also sent them to school psychologist and counselor,
along with regular ed teachers.
Will do something chocolate for Valentine’s day.
We have an interesting situation - my son will be working
on the Lexia SOS program (recommended to me on this
reading board!).
Since the Resource room is not an option (timing and
some of the kids in there who are having real trouble
with behavior) we are setting my son up in the
Time Out room with the time out ‘cop’ so to speak.
At first I was stunned - my LD child has to go to the
time out room to learn……..
But the time out fellow is very popular and the kids
like him, my son will have on ear phones so any disipline
stuff that goes on will not bother him and, most importantly
my son thinks it is no big deal - so it’s no big deal to me
–– for now.
