Re: whats wrong with my daughter. HELP!
Hi again worried mum,
I didn’t have time to finish this message earlier because I had to run out the door.
Unfortunately, I don’t know too much about older teens with LD’s and/or ADD.
Although, one thing I do know is sometimes it’s very difficult to get clear answers. Children can be very complex. Since your daughter is 18 and legally an adult, I think your best bet is to try and encourage her to see a good psychologist. Maybe even offer to go with her if that would help.
Also, read through this website. There’s a lot of great infirmation here.
Best of luck to you.
ADD
Some of the things you’re saying about your daughter do suggest that she might possibly be struggling with ADD and some learning differences/learning disabilities. As she’s failed high school, she could still get a GED but where to start is always the question.
Do you or she have a family doctor that she holds in any regard? Did she have a pediatrician? And have you talked with your daughter about ADD? It would be good to know what she says about that.
If you’ve talked with her, I’d next talk to the family doctor and tell them what the testing showed and discuss the possibility of ADD with him/her.
I believe the terms learning difficulties and learning disabilities are interchangable (if I’m wrong someone please correct me!).
And I think only a psychologist (or neuropsychologist) can diagnose and recommend treatment for ADD.
