How do I include students with a learning disability without making them feel singled out? Are there any good materials or manipulatives to use to assist in classroom lessons?

Sara you are truly a blessing to your students and their parents…
Thank you from a mom’s heart,

Re: First year teacher needed some inclusion advice
Sara,
You are so right. I love your positive refreshing attitude. What makes some teachers think that adding help to a classroom only benefits an ld kid.
I have observed many lost faces in a class that were in reg. classes that could us extra help.
Good job keep it up!
I try to eschew practices that exclude students - that way no one is singled out. I’d put out manipulatives for all the students - not just for those with learning differences. I give extra time to all students. I hand out copies of notes to all students etc. etc.
the rising tide lifts all the boats is an old saying. I try to make my classroom learning friendly for all students and to avoid practices which make it hard to learn or hard to demonstrate what’s been learned.
